Singapore, 23 April 2014 – Following its spectacular debut in 2013, Taiwan’s largest annual Mandopop outdoor music festival Spring Wave returns to Singapore on 7 June 2014 at The Meadow – Gardens by the Bay. The highly anticipated event will offer music-lovers a day of great music, spread over six ‘live’ sessions. This music festival is organised by Friendly Dog Entertainment Co. Ltd. and proudly presented by Tiger Beer.
Spring Wave Singapore 2014 continues the festival’s tradition of showcasing rare Taiwanese music talents through a stellar artiste line-up, including a rare appearance by top Taiwanese diva A-mei. A-mei, who almost never takes part in music festivals, makes an exception for this important Spring Wave festival. Two years after her last world tour, she will return with sensational performances alongside fellow Taiwan aboriginal artistes from the group Boxing.
Other A-listers to watch out for include the chart-topping Jam Hsiao, and the reigning queen of original idol drama soundtracks Della Ding Dang. Recent Golden Horse winner for Best New Artiste Yao Yao, known for her highly acclaimed work in music, television and film, as well as singer, dancer and popular idol Bii will also be belting out hits. Della Ding Dang, Yao Yao and Bii have flown in to Singapore to share their thoughts on participating in this important music festival.
To support Spring Wave Singapore’s social responsibility initiatives, all performing artistes, including A-mei, Jam Hsiao, Della Ding Dang, Yao Yao and Bii, will also be donating their prized personal possessions to a rare charity auction. Items up for bid will be unveiled on Spring Wave Singapore’s official Facebook page. This charity event is a Spring Wave annual tradition. This year, proceeds will be donated to Singapore’s Student Advisory Centre and Little Yellow Flower Education Foundation based in Hong Kong that cares for underprivileged children.
This ties back to Spring Wave’s philosophy of “Music Without Border” and its tagline
of “Love Music, Love The Earth”. Through these cross-cultural music festival and charity initiatives, the organiser aims to bridge the gap between Taiwan and the rest of the world.
Other key initiatives also include the First Global Spring Wave Awards – 2014, which offers the regional winner an attractive cash prize, as well as a fully sponsored opportunity to perform in Singapore.
This April, Singapore has selected two local bands to join the top 20 finalists competing in Kenting, Taiwan. This sponsored trip aims to promote the Spring Wave spirit, provide Mandarin indie music communities a channel for exchange, and offer Singaporean musicians a new platform to shine.
Last year’s popular Taiwanese gourmet event will return this year as well. Featuring Taiwan’s well-known chefs and unique air-flown ingredients, this event will present the most authentic and popular Taiwanese snacks. While the menu is yet to be finalised, gourmands may look out for regular updates on Spring Wave’s official website, Facebook page and Twitter feed for more information on the exciting music and gastronomic line-up.
“Back by popular demand, Spring Wave Singapore 2014, the nation’s only Chinese outdoor music festival is proudly sponsored by Tiger. Boasting a stellar line-up of performances, the festival offers fans an immersive sensory experience with great music and, in true Singapore-fashion, delicious food and refreshing Tiger Beer, amidst panoramic views of our iconic cityscape at Gardens by the Bay,” said Mr. Rene de Monchy, Head of Marketing, Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore.
